a really good quote

Why must people kneel down to pray? If I really wanted to pray I'll tell you what I'd do. I'd go out into a great big field all alone or into the deep, deep, woods, and I'd look up into the sky--up--up--up--into that lovely blue sky that looks as if there was no end to its blueness. And then I'd just feel a prayer.

Anne of Green Gables, by L.M. Montgomery
(chapter 7: Anne says her prayers)

Just in from a walk in the tall brown grass, open wide to the blue cloudless sky on a shirtsleeves day in early December....I'm with Anne. Thanks for this lovely reminder that God is everywhere, especially in the places we find stillness and vastness and beauty.

Do you know, my daughter came to me yesterday with this very same quote. I thought Mmm that's really wonderful I'm going to put that on the blog :)
You beat me to it!
What a lovely way to see prayer.
These are my kinds of prayers...

Yes, that is a really good quote. A few months ago I was in a room with a guy praying who looked straight at each of us as he prayed for us - never closed his eyes at all. (Um, I know because I peeked, then eventually kept my eyes open too.) It was really a moving experience and made me think twice about why we think we ALWAYS have to close our eyes...
